Calling Out

So here I am at the outset of a three year journey that is the PhD, calling to all interested young people (15-35) living in rural and regional Australia to share their experiences of attending large festivals in capital cities.

My aim is to create a space for potential research participants and academics alike to share ideas, thoughts and experiences of attending major festivals held in urban cities. I am talking about festivals like Big Day Out, Mardi Gras and Summernats (please share any others you feel are particularly important). Specifically I am interested in moving away from a focus on the festivals themselves (of course this is important, but it has been researched again and again), rather I want to know about how these festivals relate to your everyday lives.

For example:

How do particular festivals make you think differently about who you are, where you live, how you act?

Do you feel that you can act differently at mega festivals?

What do you feel and anticipate in the lead up to a festival?

How do particular festivals help you stay where you live?

How do you share stories and experiences following the festival?

This space is completely informal and inviting. It is a space to share stories, photos, sound clips, videos, art – basically your thoughts in any form you wish. If you prefer anonymity please feel free to contact me via email, Facebook, mobile – details below.

I will not publish anything posted on this blog without direct permission from the original poster.
